Harry F. Schiestel,
CQA Harry's thought process was heavily influenced by the management theories developed by the late Dr. W. Edwards Deming. A US News & World Report cover story ranked Deming’s contributions to the world as 1 of 9 “Hidden Turning Points in World History.” Deming was regarded as the no. 1 quality guru / statistician in the world. His teachings evolved around “reducing variation.” Dr. Deming taught the Japanese quality, and he single-handedly revolutionized Japan’s manufacturing methods. Within 5 years, the Japanese would dominate world markets, as he had predicted. In industry, Harry was the Director of Quality for a $0.5 billion tier I automotive parts supplier. With its 2,500 employees, he became the most proficient problem solver in the company’s history. He designed problem solving models and tools to attack variation, sometimes reducing it by as much as 80%. Processes Harry improved became world benchmarks. He developed a strong appreciation on how to reduce variation in “people” dominant processes. Harry's professional background includes: a senior member of ASQ [1 of only 5,000 professionals world-wide], a site examiner for the Canada Awards for Excellence, a Certified Quality Auditor, and a trained Six Sigma Black Belt [statistical specialist]. He is a regular expert lecturer to a Masters Degree graduate class on "how to improve outcomes." He has presented his insights at various international symposiums, and systems that he has invented have been published in various journals and textbooks sold throughout the world. With the aid of his sons, Harry established a clubmaking shop, and then he began to conduct original golf research on how to improve. He designed and authored an experiment that quantified the spine effect of a graphite shaft, before the shaft companies would even acknowledge that spines existed. Internet based golf research groups would solicit Harry's insight on how to validate shaft and clubfitting theories. They used Six Sigma Statistics before the top OEM’s would play at it. OEM's are eager to change clubhead designs, while myGolfDNA relentlessly focuses on stroke average.
