Vice President
Duane F. Schiestel,
BBA
Duane swung his first
golf club at age 12. For his science fair projects he began to conduct
advanced statistical experiments and was a Silver Medalist at the
Canada-Wide [National] Science Fair competition. He was a keynote
speaker at the International Taguchi Symposium on advanced statistics, where
he met Dr. Genichi Taguchi from Japan. Dr. Taguchi and Dr. Deming shared a
mutual friendship. Duane spoke at this event as a 14-year old grade 9
student. For his last project he made 16 Sand Wedges and studied the effect
of 5 variables + 10 interactions, which determined the significant
variables that reduced his overall putting distance by 16%.
Duane has had his research
published, has been featured in 2 magazines, and has talked on the radio about
the benefits of custom fitted golf clubs. He is a recent Wilfrid Laurier
University [WLU] graduate. He co-authored the “The Game of Golf – 100
Methods to Improve™.”
Duane’s passion is golf and he sports a handicap of +1.0
[below scratch].
His average drives are 300 yards with roll. His lowest number of putts was 23 over 18
holes [one-putted a total of 13 out of 18 greens]. His personal best low
round was a course record '64' to a club 55-years old. Since our
local course is a par 35 nine-hole track, Duane has shot 5 under '30' on several
occasions.
